Algebra 1 Honors EVP
Description:
This course is designed to help students master the fundamentals of algebra and covers topics such as variables, equations, inequalities, graphing, functions, systems of equations and inequalities, exponent rules, polynomials & factoring, quadratic equations, exponential functions, radical expressions and equations, and data and statistics. The honors track includes a deeper focus on critical thinking and analytical skills by providing students with more challenging problems and assignments. These elements will prepare students to be successful in future upper-level and AP courses.
The course allows students to learn in a variety of ways: guided discovery learning, reading with guided notes, watching videos, and practice with reflection. Students have a variety of regular assessments to allow teachers to give feedback about their learning and understanding of key concepts.
Special Notes:
Students need access to a scanner or digital camera (phone is fine) in order to submit work for the teacher to review. Students will also need a TI-84 graphing calculator.
The recommended sequence for students wishing to pursue advanced math classes: Algebra 1 (8th grade) – Geometry Honors – Algebra 2 Honors – PreCalculus Honors (if taking Calculus later) – AP Calculus or AP Statistics

Student Feedback
EVP is very helpful and especially for Algebra because you can actually see how to work a problem.
I would plan to take future math classes through EVP, as I found it helped me with understanding the material better.
I enjoyed the group discussion boards, interacting math help websites, and how I had a kind teacher willing to offer help at almost any time.
