Description:

(Credit for this course can be applied to the 1.0 credit graduation requirement for world studies.)

In HIST 110 Ancient History, the student will explore historical content though the lenses of eight significant themes: Civilization and Communication, Systems of Governance, Trade and Economics, Social Institutions and Customs, Geography and Place, Invention and Innovation, Expressions of Creativity, Interaction with Other Cultures. The student will make also connections to the historical content by reflecting on personal experiences. Two in-depth research projects are required.

FROM THE TEACHER

Welcome to the world of Ancient History! I am so excited to take this journey with you. In this course, we will examine a number of intriguing concepts including the patterns of civilization development (rise, golden age, decline), and positive and negative contributions of civilizations to society and the world. We will examine historical themes through the lens of biblical understanding, to see how God worked through the lives of people throughout the timeframes we study. Through lessons and activities, you will gain a deeper understanding of historical events and their impact on how we live today. Come along for the ride!
