Creative Writing is a one-semester English elective course designed to engage students in the writing of poetry, short fiction, personal narratives, and other genres with an emphasis on developing and exercising imagination. Through sentence-focused revision activities, learners refine their craft with precision, honing their ability to wield language effectively. Students will engage in regular study of mentor texts followed by quickwrite activities that inspire creativity and foster a deep understanding of various writing styles. Through this student-centered approach, learners emerge as confident writers equipped with the tools to craft compelling stories and poetry that resonate with authenticity and creativity.
Special Notes:
This course counts as an English elective and may not meet the requirements for English transfer credit to another high school or as English credit for college admission purposes.
