Music Theory is a one-semester course geared to music students who want to deepen their understanding of how music works. Students can expect to expand their knowledge of music elements, then use that knowledge to create an original work guiding young students to compose a song, perform a song with the purpose of spreading kindness, respond to performances through a project of their choice, and connect to a variety of musical experiences.
Are you a musician who wants to take your musicianship to the next level? Maybe you are a budding composer dying to know more about how to get your musical thoughts down on paper. Or perhaps you just love math and science and want to explore how music relates to those areas. No matter how you fit into these descriptions, this course is for you. Throughout this course, you will learn various aspects of music theory including knowledge of note and rest duration, scales, chord and chord progressions, intervals, rhythms, key signatures, cadences, and more. Join us and discover the magic in music.
