Math 5
Description:
Math 5 builds a strong understanding of numbers and their values. Students learn to recognize number patterns and relationships to rename, compare, add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Students will learn to use math tools and manipulatives to solve problems and to model mathematical concepts. Students develop problem solving strategies and effective communication skills as they solve real-world problems and explain their thinking.
Special Notes:
Students will need access to a printer and a scanner, scanner app, or digital camera in order to submit work for the teacher to review.
FROM THE TEACHER
Are you ready for a fresh, fun way to learn about Math? In Math 5, we will use Sadlier Math 5 to explore and investigate mathematical patterns found in our world. Students will explore how number patterns and properties work through playing weekly hands-on games. You will also continue to build on your previous knowledge of numbers as we study place value, operations with decimals and fractions, geometry, and measurement and data. Your teacher will help you to master your problem-solving skills as you learn about how to model your thinking using pictures, diagrams, and words. Class discussion boards and unit projects will allow you to investigate and apply your mathematical learning to real-world situations. Journey with us as we explore the world of mathematics!
