Description:
In Chinese 3 Honors, the students will continue to expand their abilities in various aspects of Chinese Mandarin learning. They will continue to build up their knowledge in vocabulary, sentence patterns, and grammar points in communicative contexts. They will also enhance their Chinese Mandarin listening and speaking skills such as pronunciations and intonations. The students will learn more in-depth Chinese reading and writing strategies and skills. Their Chinese reading abilities and efficiency will be greatly improved and they will be able to write in Chinese in various formats such as journal, letter, invitation, and essay. The students’ knowledge and skills in writing simplified Chinese characters will also be enriched and fortified.
Honors level language courses are denoted as Honors due to the expected foundation and proficiency that a student brings from a regularly obtained 2 years of base language courses.
Chinese 3 is recognized as an honors course due to the rigor of the curriculum at this level of study. This accelerated course is for students who can demonstrate intermediate or higher proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish as well as critical thinking. Speaking and listening proficiencies are refined and further developed. It also covers more complex topics such as Chinese music and traditional Chinese literature.
Completing Chinese 3 will prepare students for AP level Chinese instruction.

Hi everyone! Have you wanted to learn Chinese from a teacher born and raised in China who loves sharing the language and culture with students? Learning language at NorthStar is great because you literally get to work with other students from all around the world. I hope you will join us too on this journey!
In Chinese 3 Honors, we will cover a variety of topics such as family and friends, anatomy and Chinese medicine, Li Bai poetry, education and community, environment and health, entertainment and generation and finding work. Chinese 3 Honors is a higher level foreign language course, so it’s challenging, but definitely very rewarding as well!
