English 3: American Literature

Description:

What people think about God, affects the way they live; how people live, reveals what they think about God. Over the years, Americans have lived lives that reveal all too much about what they think about God. In this course, we will observe how Americans starting from the beginning of the nation lived and what they believed as demonstrated through literature. We will explore how history and worldview influences literature and how that same literature then influences the nation! Additionally, we will analyze and critique historical events, worldviews, and literature as it relates to the Word in order to see God’s truth in everything and His plan for everyone!

Join us as we go through history and literature to discover answers to the great question: What makes American Literature American?

FROM THE TEACHER

Because our God is a creative God, I value creativity in my work and in my students. Since students learn differently, I enjoy innovating new ways to make difficult material tangible for them in a variety of ways. In my course, I try to mix learning styles with different, yet engaging activities to make English and Literature more tangible and relatable to this generation. My goal is to expose students to a variety of writing, stories, and styles in order to give them a tool box for effectively communicating their own ideas, stories, and voice. Student individuality is significant, and I love interacting with each student God has chosen especially for me to teach and learn from in return. I look forward to joining you on your academic journey and coming alongside you at this time in your life!

Student Feedback

I think this is one of the best courses I have had at NSA so far. The teacher was very helpful, and gave me helpful feedback. The course was interesting, and I loved the new organized set up. Overall, I learned a lot this semester, and I am looking forward to the next semester.

This course is wonderful! The lessons are set up really well, and all of the tests and assignments were understandable. I absolutely love the feedback Friday journal, it makes completing the course feel a lot more personal than others thanks to the constant feedback both the student and teacher are giving. As for any improvements, I can’t think of any! The assignments were great, and the tests followed suit while also being sparse throughout the units. The projects in the course were really fun and they did a good job of challenging the student, which I think makes for some really awesome projects. But yeah, all in all, this course was phenomenal and I can’t wait to start semester B! 😀

“The teacher is very personal and encouraging – being able to write an essay and then talk one-on-one with her was very helpful.”
