Chemistry
Description:
In this course, students will study of the foundations of chemistry, building on the concepts and scientific thinking developed in middle school science. Students use scientific inquiry and higher-order problem-solving as they explore the composition, properties, and changes of matter and their applications through interactive simulations, engineering solutions, and virtual and hands-on experiences. The scientific process is fully used and documented in lab investigations, giving students the skills they need to analyze data and make inferences about natural phenomena. In addition, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts are integrated throughout the course. Through phenomenon-based learning, students will be able to demonstrate a vast understanding of the importance of chemistry in the world, enabling them to apply these principles to their everyday lives and our global society.
This course has a lab component.
FROM THE TEACHER
Have you ever wondered why some batteries can be recharged but others can’t? And why rust forms on certain metals when they get wet? In this Chemistry course, we will learn the answers to these questions and others!
Chemistry is the discovery of the materials of the universe and the changes that these materials undergo. You will be uncovering the mysteries of God’s Creation by analyzing and understanding these materials. As we dive into an exploration of the world around us at the atomic level, you will be amazed to discover just how creative and marvelous God’s Creation is! He cares about His entire Creation, even down to the tiniest of atomic particles; so imagine how much He cares about each one of you as well!

Student Feedback
The course was incredibly well structured.
The course was great and engaging and I have really learned a lot. The teacher is really great at responding to emails quickly and giving thorough instructions for labs and assignments. The group discussions were also really helpful to hear from other students about how they learned specific lessons.
I liked the class overall; it was a nice class. But to be honest, it is pretty hard at some times. After all, who doesn’t like a little challenge?! 🙂
