-
Credits:

Suggested Prerequisites:
Algebra 1 (MATH100)
Geometry
Description:
This course includes an in-depth analysis of the concepts of plane, solid, and coordinate geometry. Topics include logic and proof, parallel lines and planes, triangles, polygons, perimeter, area, volume, surface area, similarity, congruence, trigonometry, and analytic geometry. All concepts are also related to real-world phenomena.
Emphasis will be placed on developing critical thinking skills as they relate to logical reasoning and argument. Students will be required to use geometric tools and online tools to explore and discover concepts covered in the course.
The recommended sequence for students taking non-Honors courses: Algebra 1 – Geometry – Algebra 2 – Other 300+ math
Special Notes:
Students need access to a scanner or digital camera (phone is fine) in order to submit work for the teacher to review. Students will also need a TI-84 graphing calculator for this course.
FROM THE TEACHER
Did you know that 25-30% of the SAT and 40-45% of the ACT math sections are Geometry related questions? This means that without a good working knowledge of Geometry, your math score on these tests won’t be high enough to get you into that University you are really shooting for. The content of this course is designed to prepare you for these big tests and to get your math score where it needs to be for the school that you want to get into, and this is an important reason to study geometry. But, there’s a higher reason to study Geometry. Did you know that studying Geometry is also a mandate from God?
You may ask, “how does the study of points, lines, planes, triangles, and polygons have anything to do with God?” Well, in the first few weeks of the course, we will show how the study of Geometry is an act of obedience to the creation mandate of God, and how studying geometry ultimately brings him glory. So, come on in, have a look, and learn about the great truths of geometry that are waiting for you.

Student Feedback
The set up was easy to follow; everything was divided into daily assignments.
This course was the perfect amount of difficulty and was easy to navigate through and learn.
This course was very easily followed and I actually enjoyed it; I normally hate math.
