Description:
This course is designed to develop student growth in literacy and writing abilities. Through a variety of text genres including fiction and nonfiction, students will learn reading strategies to assist in their ability to comprehend and connect with the text at hand. Vocabulary and language development will be integrated as well. Students will also learn a systematic approach to writing narrative, informational, and persuasive pieces including a biographical project, short narrative writing, and a persuasive essay. Students will be introduced to the MLA format with step by step instruction and support.
Special Notes:
When only one semester is needed, it is strongly recommended that students take semester A of the language arts course.
Students will need access to a printer and a scanner, scanner app or digital camera in order to submit work for the teacher to review.

Join me in Language Arts 6 as we immerse ourselves in award-winning literature, paired with nonfiction texts that will deepen our understanding of the people, places, and cultures within the novel! In this course, you will also be challenged to grow in your writing skills through step-by-step instruction that will help you convey your greatest thoughts and ideas onto the virtual “paper”. Prepare yourself to reach new goals as we learn through reading, writing, and collaborating with others!
