Middle School Animation

Description:

Middle School Animation is a one-semester course that uses free online software to teach students to create their very own animated objects and characters. Beginning with a brief look at the history of animation, the course guides students through character development, color theory and design, and the principles of animation. They will apply their unique animation styles to their own animated characters. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to begin assembling an artist’s portfolio where they can collect and show their work.

Have you ever stopped to think about how animated movies are made? Every bit of movement, color, and speech in an animated film has been meticulously planned and created. The Middle School Animation course will show you how animation works—and how to create some of your own. In your coursework, you will learn the basic skills that any animator needs to have, and then you’ll apply those skills to your work. You get to choose the shapes, colors, and movements of your character. Imagine the excitement of seeing your very own animated character come to life!
