Description:
This course is a one-semester class that teaches the basic techniques of acrylic painting, in which students learn about color theory and the elements of design through representational and creative artworks. Student projects will include the use of negative and positive space, value studies, printing, silhouette, still life, original design, collage, and other student-created paintings that are inspired by the historical styles of the post-impressionist and fauvist movements.

Have you ever looked at a beautiful painting and wished that you could create art like that? Well, now this is your chance! This course teaches a variety of painting techniques and is designed to give beginners a place to start exploring the world of acrylic painting while offering more advanced students the chance to challenge themselves artistically. The class projects include complementary color paintings, a mixed media collage, stamping, and even creating your own unique works of art. Not only will you become more familiar with some artistic masters, but you will also have the opportunity to reflect on God as the ultimate Creator! After learning the basics of mixing paint and controlling your brushstrokes through this course, you will be able to explore your own creative ideas and enjoy a world of endless artistic possibilities!
