Physical Education
Description:
This course helps students develop a regular exercise program and maintain a healthy lifestlye. Students will be required to complete a weekly fitness Log Sheet, 5 workouts a week, that details their weekly workouts. Students will gain confidence in the performance of motor skills, strength training, dance, and physical fitness, which in turn increases participation in health-enhancing forms of physical activity throughout life.
Special Note:
A weekly log must be submitted for 18 weeks, so sufficient time must be allowed for this course.
FROM THE TEACHER
Online Physical Education? How does that even work? Do those two things even go together? Well NorthStar Academy has figured this out! This class is not your traditional sports focused PE. It works more like a personal training program to help you meet your physical education goals. Each student can personalize their fitness goals as they meet the course requirements. Maybe your idea of exercise is walking to the fridge or maybe you love to run like Forrest Gump. Wherever your fitness level is, this class will push you forward to achieve your goals.
If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.
Student Feedback
It was an amazing course that kept me motivated!
Everything was perfectly scheduled. You could expect everything because it was organized and it was a great course to follow.
I really enjoyed this course and I feel so much stronger.
By doing a weekly log every week I realized that I would love to continue to work on a weekly log because it has actually motivated me. Every time I make sure to go back and read my logs because it has motivated me in some way, I always think to myself that I worked out on days that I didn’t feel like or I got through a workout that I thought I would never be able to do. Without making this sentence seem like a platitude, it has changed me in the best way. I am confident and I am aware of my goals. I already know that I plan of making so many changes along the way which makes me stronger physically and mentally. This course has given me a different perspective of working out in general and I didn’t know I would grow so much and have a huge jump in my personal growth. I also realized that working out actually makes me happy and helps me in so many ways. At the beginning of this course, I was unsure if I could handle being able to work out and do my other courses, but it all turned out well and I achieved my goals. I think that I had my bad days and my good days but it was all worth it in the end.
I wanted to thank you for everything this year. I learned so much in PE and Health, and you have challenged me to exercise and be a healthier person, but most importantly, you have taught me to face my fears. I was always so scared to take on any aerobic activity because of asthma attacks I have had in the past as a result of physical activity. However, after I built up my stamina with running (I had to start with VERY small intervals in order to not have problems with my breathing), I had a checkup with my asthma doctor and the improvements were unbelievable! I also felt the difference myself. In the past, every time I got a little cold that only lasted a few days, I would have trouble breathing along with a bad cough for about a month after. After I started running, when I got a little sick, it barely went to my lungs at all. 🙂 Obviously, I am not completely cured from the disease (I think that rarely happens), but I have come an incredibly long way. I also became more confident about how I look.
